Sponge: Thick; encrusting or massive. Consistency: firm, friable. Surface: smooth but strongly and irregularly undulated. Oscula: sparse, to 6 mm in diameter.
Color: Alive: Yellow, Preserved: Beige.
Spicules: Megascleres: (1) Oxeas: 170 -239- 350 um. x 4 -7- 10 um. (2) Oxeas -often curved: 750 -813- 920 um. x 12 -26- 30 um. (3) Styles (rare): 400 -708- 920 um. x 15 -25- 35 um. (4) Strongyles (rare): 400 -541- 680 um. x 20 -25- 30 um.
Skeleton: Dense, random distribution of spicules.
Distribution: Santa Catalina Id., Southern California.
Depth: Deep water, 46 m.
