Sponge: Irregular, robust 2 - 8 mm thick. Consistency: firm, woody, prickly. Surface: with bundles of spicules visible with tips projecting from surface. Oscula: no pores or oscula visible.
Color: Preserved: White to dirty white.
Spicules: Megascleres: (1) Oxeas: 750 -1555- 2625 um. x 13 -32- 57 um. (2) Styles: 750 -1062- 2000 um. x 21 -32- 49 um.
Skeleton: Plumose, with condensed axis of oxeas.
Distribution: Santa Maria Basin, Pt. Arguello, California.
Depth: Deep water, 54 - 90 m.
