Consistency: firm, compressible.
Surface: hard, slightly rough. Varies from partly smooth and partly rough to undulated, simulating a a brain coral surface.
Oscula: oval to oblong., 1-4 mm in diameter.
Color: Alive: Light tan, gold, yellow, cinnamon brown, buff.

Distribution: Southern to Northern California.
Depth: Intertidal to deep water.
