Skeleton: Consisting of three layers: cortical, tubar, (triradiates arranged in a series of circles around the chamber wall), and gastral quadriradiates with one ray extending into the spongocoele.

Note: A difficult group with central atrial tube surrounded by perpendicular regularly arranged radial tubes, these partially or fully coalescent. Numerous species within this genus appear to be present in California but they have not yet been described. See Hooper & Van Soest, 2002, Vol. 2, pg. 1162.
